About Me

I am an animal lover of all animals scaly, furry, pokey, and feathery. I started breeding rats as feeders for our other animals. I understand that everything has to eat and there is the circle of life. I decided I would rather breed my own rats to provide for other animals than support mill type breedings to ensure my rats were healthy and happy. I then fell madly and deeply in love with rats. With their wonderfully outgoing personalities and their tiny noses and cute paws. Being in Colorado and traveling up and down the front range, the amount of variety of rats is very limited and my stock from breeding was showing some interesting varieties, I have decided to sell some of my rats as pets. That’s when I decided to start Ohana Rattery. Ohana Rattery is a closed rattery run by myself and my sister in Pueblo, Colorado. Our love and dedication comes from being raised with a plethora of animals and although it took me until my late 20’s to own rats I did so with passion and fervor.

We are a multi-purpose breeder breeding for show, pets and food. We breed first and foremost for health and temperament while conforming to show standards set by the AFRMA. I have been extremely lucky in the rats I have come across and working with them has been a delight. All of our rats are exposed to different pets such as our dogs and my sisters, cat. I pride myself on my rats being easily handled, craving human attention and healthy.

Besides my rats, I have mice, African Soft Furred rats, 1 ball python, 1 Western Hognose, 1 Dumerils Boa, 1 kingsnake, 1 crested gecko, 1 hedgehog, 3 ferrets and 3 dogs.
